🌱 OneSeed Complete Workflow Wizard

Step 1 of 6
🏗️

Step 1: Create Your Project

What is a Project?

A Project represents your physical growing space - whether it's a garden, farm, greenhouse, or even a balcony. It defines the location and surface area where you'll be growing your plants.

What you'll need:
  • Project Name: Give your growing space a memorable name
  • Surface Area: Total area in square meters
  • Location: Address or description of your location
  • Description: Optional details about your project
Tip: You can create multiple projects if you have different growing locations!

Step 2: Create a Grow Page

What is a Grow Page?

A Grow Page is like a garden plan within your project. It represents a specific growing season or crop rotation where you'll organize your plants, track their progress, and manage your garden activities.

What you'll configure:
  • Name: Descriptive name for this growing season
  • Project/Farm: Select which project this belongs to
  • Surface Area: Portion of your project for this grow page
  • Location Details: Specific location and climate data
  • Description: Goals and notes for this growing season
Example: "Spring 2024 Vegetable Garden" or "Herb Container Garden"

Step 3: Build Your Plant Collection

What is Your Plant Collection?

Your Plant Collection is your personal database of plants you're interested in growing. Think of it as your seed catalog or plant wishlist with detailed information about each variety.

You have two options:
Add New Plants

Create detailed plant profiles with growing information, edible uses, and care instructions.

Add New Plant
Browse Existing Plants

Explore the community database and add pre-existing plant varieties to your collection.

Browse Plants
Note: You need plants in your collection before you can add them to a grow page!
🌱

Step 4: Plan Your Garden Layout

Adding Plants to Your Grow Page

Now it's time to plan your actual garden by selecting plants from your collection and placing them in your grow page. This is where you decide what to grow this season!

How it works:
  1. Navigate to your Grow Page: Go to the grow section and select your grow page
  2. Use the Canvas: Drag and drop plants from your collection onto the garden canvas
  3. Set Quantities: Specify how many of each plant you want to grow
  4. Arrange Layout: Position plants considering their spacing and companion planting
Visual Planning: The canvas allows you to create a visual representation of your garden layout!

Step 5: Create Plant Guilds

What are Plant Guilds?

Plant Guilds are groups of plants that work together synergistically. They support each other through companion planting, creating beneficial relationships that improve growth, pest control, and soil health.

Benefits of Guilds:
  • Companion Planting: Plants that help each other grow better
  • Natural Pest Control: Some plants repel pests that affect others
  • Soil Improvement: Nitrogen-fixing plants feed their neighbors
  • Space Efficiency: Maximize your growing area with strategic combinations
Example Guild:
🌽 Corn (structure)
🫘 Beans (nitrogen fixing)
🥒 Squash (ground cover)
Herb Guild:
🍅 Tomatoes
🌿 Basil (pest deterrent)
🌼 Marigolds (pest control)

Step 6: Skip Steps with Templates!

Speed Up Your Setup with Templates

Templates are pre-designed garden plans created by experienced gardeners. Instead of starting from scratch, you can import a complete template that includes plants, guilds, and layout suggestions!

Two ways to use templates:
📥
Import Existing Template

Browse community templates and import complete garden plans with plants, guilds, and layouts already configured.

Browse Templates
Skips: Steps 3, 4, and 5!
📤
Create Your Own Template

After completing your grow page setup, save it as a template to reuse next season or share with others.

Create Template
Benefit: Reuse your successful designs!
Pro Tip: Even if you import a template, you can still customize it by adding/removing plants, modifying guilds, and adjusting the layout to fit your specific needs!
🎉 Congratulations!

You now understand the complete OneSeed workflow. Whether you build from scratch or use templates, you're ready to create amazing gardens!
